St. Francis on the Brazos

Add to plan Remove from plan

This beautiful Franciscan church was built in 1931 and evokes the style of Mission San Jose in San Antonio. The church welcomes visitors during its normal office hours.

The walls of the church are richly decorated with paintings representing the Stations of the Cross, the glorification of Saint Francis and scenes of the arrival, predication and martyrdom of the first Franciscan Missionaries in Texas. The paintings are the work of a painter of Mallorca, Spain and good friend of the Franciscan Fathers, the master Pedro Juan Barcelo.
