September

9am - 5pm

Waco Mammoth National Monument

Held on the second Saturday of every month. On Junior Ranger Days, there are additional special activities for kids, such as story time, guided hikes, and the chance to earn hard-to-find Junior Ranger badges, like the National Park Service Centennial badge. Junior Rangers help to preserve National Parks; they learn about Waco Mammoth National Monument, have fun, and are our representatives to their friends, families, and schoolmates back home. Junior Rangers spread their new knowledge about Parks and continue to use good environmental practices. These free programs are available to all kids, not just scouts.
9 am – 4 pm: Ranger Guided tours every 30 minutes.
10 am – 10:45 am: Nature Hike – scout our Eagle Trail for local animals and wildflowers. Free.
11 am – 11:15 am: Story Time – join a park ranger for a fun Ice Age story. Free.
12 pm: Make A Fossil – learn about different kinds of fossils and make one to keep!
1 pm – 2 pm: Ancient Oceans – find and keep real fossils in this educational class.
2 pm: Bone-oculars – make and decorate your very own fossil-riffic binoculars to help you see our dig site during your tour.
3 pm – 4 pm: Ancient Oceans – find and keep real fossils in this educational class.
